1. Was it caused by human error? Or by machinery?
2. Is the radioactive dust still "alive"?
3. Who has been singly blamed for this accident?
4. How many jobs were lost from it?
5. How much money, economically, has been lost from the shutting down of Pripyat?
6. Was this known in the Western world right away?

Love Canal Part 1
Have any independent groups done studies and cleared the area?
How many families who have been relocated have moved back?
Are tests still being done in the toxic area?
Are there other examples of places who have revitalized in a similar way that you plan to?
Has there been a disproportional amount of birth defects since 1978 in Love Canal?
Has native wildlife returned?

Love canal part 2
Good Morning and Happy Monday! Please watch part 2 of the love canal video and post on your reflection blog the answers to the following questions:
1.) What caused the toxic waste to begin being pushed to the surface?
2.) What are some of the health hazards associated with the chemicals dumped there?
3.) Besides humans how are other parts of the ecosystem affected by this?
1. The blizzard of 77 caused the river to rise, which in turn pushed the chemicals to the surface.
2. Many of the chemicals caused cancer, caused liver and kidney problems, nervous system problems, and birth defects.
3. The black creek, north of love canal, has Bren infracted by the same chemicals, so animals who live and drink from it will openly consume benzene, dioxin, and xylene.

Hazards of Oil Dispersants
Honestly, I find this sickening. What, you ask? Fighting fire with fire in the Deepwater Horizon spill. After carelessness and human error caused the largest oil spill of all time, BP's highly educated scientists, knowingly intoxicated the already tarnished fragile ecosystem of marshland and wetland. In my opinion, the oil spill is still a worse crime; however the spill is much more allowable, because it was certainly unintentional. The chemical dispersants may have done their job, but we should not get rid of the oil at all costs. BP may have unleashed these toxins for monetary reasons; enough cleaning crews could take the job of the dispersants without the terrible side effects.

Chemical Dispersants
Who owns the patents for these chemicals?
Have they been used in other fields of dispersing?
Do they affect certain animals more than others?
